Our cottage was cancelled due to fire damage, with a month to go, I recognise Original Cottages were not to blame for this but we're very unhelpful in providing alternatives. The options were completely the wrong dates, or way more expensive. To be fair the staff I spoke to were lovely. But there was no help considering our holiday had been booked for months. Very disappointed.

Well we only arrived today and things aren't off to a good start. The property manager arrived and spoke to us like naughty children for coming into the house before 04.00 pm. We advised that we had seen the cleaner's leave and desperately needed to use the toilet. We had not brought any luggage in and apologized and said we would leave. She said what if the cleaner's had been late and I confirmed they had been and gone. Stated she needed to check the property and when we said come in she advised there's no point now and left. Also no hot water, great

What a disaster - will certainly never use this company again, and I book cottages around the country on a regular basis. Having had the reservation accepted, names of attendees accepted and payment for an 8 bed house taken in full, found out 3 days before we turned up there that they had cancelled the booking, not told us, and not refunded the payment.
I only found out, because it stated on the site that the 25 charge for a dog was to be paid locally, and I rang to find out who I needed to pay, other wise we would have turned up - 375 miles to accomodation that we could not have stayed at. Yes we have had an apologetic email, but everyone is blaming everyone else, and no one is actually taking any responsibility. Just thakful we did actually find out before we arrived with my 87 year old Mum and Dad.

Wish I had read these reviews before booking with this company. We booked a cottage for two separate weeks, The cottage was advertised as having parking for 2 cars, which was essential for us. On checking out the property there was no way we could park 2 cars on the property or anywhere near. I cancelled the booking on the basis that the property was mid sold but never got a clear response on this and ended up loosing both deposits and being charged full rate for one of the weeks which we cancelled months in advance.
Like a lot of the reviewers here I've had no satisfactory response to the claim I have made several times that the property is miss sold. If only I had read the reviews as another person has already commented on the parking problems.

I booked a week at Bluebell Byre in Kent for 700. It was listed with WIFI access but on arrival I soon established there was a none. We informed the owners and left the property as internet access was essential for our stay. Give then property was incorrectly listed as having WIFI I was confident I could get in touch with Original Cottages for get a refund to make up for their error. they have so far declined, directing me to their small print. Appalling customer service and customer care. This is a competitive market, there are a plethora of other excellent holiday cottage booking platforms available in the UK. Sadly this is not one of them.

We stayed in 72 Starboard for one week. On arrival the property was damp and dirty, with sticky popcorn all over the living room floor. We were left no wood for the fire and were generally disappointed by the lack of personal touches and overall very small and clinical nature of the property. A few days after we left we receieved an email to say that 70 of our deposit was being withheld. Having stayed in numerous self catering properties we were utterly shocked as we always leave things in excellent condition- in this case better than we found it given we had to clean up piles of popcorn.
No reason was given and the email stated that if we wanted to appeal we must do so within 3 working days. I replied immediately but it was 3 weeks later before Original Cottages replied, despite numerous follow ups from myself and my husband. They claimed that dirt had been left on two sets of white bed sheets, however their email stated they were keen to refund the remainder of our deposit ASAP.
After further back and forth it became apparent that this was not the case and they still hold our 70. Original Cottages stated that they had disposed of the bedding thus eliminating any evidence of their claim, and also confirmed that the property owner would not be replacing the items as they had been spares. In short, they have retained our money with no evidence and no plans to make good the damage they allege to have occurred. Our money is therefore at the disposal of the property owner to do with whatever he likes. These people are absolute con artists and I urge you to avoid.

We had a lovely week away in Derbyshire with Original Cottages in August 2021, staying in Pipestrelle Barn. The photos do not do this cottage justice! Deceptively spacious, modern, comfortable and a thoughtful local welcome pack on arrival. We enjoyed a couple of meals at the local pub (walking distance), as well as day trips to Bakewell and Chatsworth House. Email communication was good in regards to payment reminders and directions and we even had a text message a couple of days before reminding us of access details. Have already recommended the cottage to others and look forward to another stay with Original Cottages.

The cottage at Beadnell. Beautiful, well equipped cottage very close to the beach, 2 restaurants and the village shop. There was no house book at the cottage which would have been useful and no bags were left for dirty laundry, hence 4 stars. Huge garden and although its next to the road it was very quiet. Parking would be difficult if you had 2 large cars.

We booked the Rye Annex Bishopton, Swansea for the week of the 24th July for 729. having seen the photos on the website, we were so looking forward to a long awaited holiday what with the year we have all had and loosing both my parents within 6 weeks of each other. The owners were not there for the first 3days, this was not what was advertised, we have contacted the company who chose not to reply to some email, and state that they will no even give a good will gesture. Please be carefully when using this company.

Worst holiday ever, left after two days as couldn't stand it. Been trying to negotiate refund, dreadful response from 'Resolutions' team, unwilling to escalate to senior official. Booked Belle View 'apartment' in Ilfracombe, cost 900 for a week so fair enough to expect something of quality - not a cracked handbasin, shower that leaked and flooded downstairs, anti social behaviour from neighbours it's actually a flat with people living all around, on a busy Main Street where the local alcohol dependent people congregate and to quote the owner "defecate" on the street. Advertised as having sea and harbour views, judge for yourselves from the photos attached. Will never use this company again and have advised everyone we know of the same. Sharing in the hope we might help others avoid a similar dreadful experience.
